ARCHITECTS: HENRY J KAISER & GORDON KAUFMANN (1931)

Hoover Dam is a concrete arech-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River.
It was built between 1931 and 1936 taming the Colorado River, providing hydro-electric power, and creating Lake Mead.
Hoover Dam's construction was a heroic effort.
When we were there in 2009, a new highway suspension bridge was under construction spanning the canyon just below the dam.
It now exists as the Mike O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.
